So here is it; further proof that the PS4 is, in fact, in the pipeline, and not just a perpetual rumor. Behold – the PS4 controller….
….looks a lot like the PS3 controller. Which looked like the PS2 controller. So while I’m quick to point out the lack of innovation, I also want to establish how HAPPY I am about that. I’m not interested in innovation from companies who aren’t designing their entire consoles around it. PS Move, Six-Axis controls, and Microsoft Kinect can all die in a fire. I want something that is reliable, comfortable, and durable. So on that end, I’m okay with this.
Apparently the center of the controller has a touch screen. Can’t wait to see how that is badly implemented and then forgotten about. Other forgettable qualities include a speaker in the controller. Yay.
Excuse me if I sound bitter, but I’m still going off the assumption that the next gen of PlayStation and Xbox will either ban used games in a way that is entirely crippling to its audience, require a constant online connection which is crippling to its audience. Or both. And you can guess what that would do to the audience.
And, if my assumption is correct, as much as I’d love to, I can’t support that with my wallet. Sorry. I know something needs to be done about piracy, but punishing gamers isn’t the best plan.
Excuse the tangent, and speculate away.
