I’m not ashamed to say it: Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite gaming franchises. I’ve spent hours leading my spiky haired protagonists on quests through Disney worlds. Found the Ultima Weapon. Killed Sephiroth. Got up on the Hyrdra’s back. So needless to say, I’m highly anticipating the series’ next installment, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
KH 3D is nearing its release date, and we have the trailer to show it off, now with 100 percent more English. A lot of fans lack my excitement for the title, apparently irritated with the series’ insistence on delving into so many many side stories and tangent games (KH3D is the 4th side game since KH2, and that’s not counting any sort of Final Mix titles). I think those fans should suck it; the Kingdom Hearts series is telling these side stories while simultaneously building up to a finale that will bridge all of them together. Pretty epic stuff. Throw in the revamped combat system that sees our protagonists ricocheting off walls and ruining hordes of enemies, and sharp graphics that may actually persuade me to turn up my 3D slider, and I think you have a product everybody should be excited about. Watch the trailer and swoon, then let us know what you think.
